Where Are You Going in THAT?
I created guidelines to simplify getting dressed each day and to help answer the “What do I wear to….” question that I often get.
WHERE AM I GOING?
What would the pie chart of YOUR life look like? Where do you spend your time?
The Where Am I Going Guidelines are simple, visual guidelines to help reduce decision fatigue when getting dressed. Divide the items in your wardrobe using these categories (or create your own based on your life). The bulk of your clothing should be based in the category you visit most often.
Ask yourself, "Where am I going in this outfit?" and "How does this make me feel?" If you can't be seen outside of the PICKUP LANE, in an item, then kick it to the curb!
TO THE CITY! Datenight/MNO, Awards Dinner or Client Meeting
These very special items make me feel #amazing and I love wearing them! I feel powerful.
AROUND THE BURBS. Casual Lunch, Park, Soccer Practice, Coffee Date
These items are worn most often in my life. They are practical, but cute and stylish. I feel completely confident and always appropriately dressed.
PICKUP LANE. Workouts, School Drop Off, Cleaning the House, Netflixing
I'm comfortable, but I'm not planning to be out and about socially in these items. I mainly wear them around the house or to the gym, but that doesn't mean they look bad on me!
The next step is to create uniforms for each of these categories to make getting dressed easy. Ask yourself, "What does the best version of myself wear to each of these places?" Put together a few sample outfits you are excited to wear and take pics in them. The next time you are stumped about what to wear, pull out those photos and be inspired!
If you haven't already completed the #CurateYourCloset Challenge, that's ok! As you work through the contents of your closet, remove anything that isn't working in your lifestyle, doesn't fit properly, or doesn't feel good to wear.
